Founded in 2023, the Camden County Chess Club is here to teach, promote, and gather people of all ages, races, religions, genders, and ethnicities around the world of Chess. Only seen people play and would love to learn? Do you want to improve? Or, are you actively competing and would love to find a club closer to home? This club is for you.

With the idea of starting a chess club in Camden, NJ in 2014, I found little success. Partially because I was a student at Rutgers University, and mainly because I had no organizational experience.
Having become more traveled, and visiting clubs and sites globally, I decided to start from square one again. Chess has been a deep passion for me since 2008, where I learned out of boredom from a counselor in a foster home while moving about the State as a foster youth.
Having played throughout the years, and winning the University-wide tournament at NJIT in 2012, I knew that chess would always remain a part of my life, whether large or small. Helping to remain as a constant in my adolescent life, I thought, "Why aren't more people playing this?"
Ultimately, this led to Reena and myself running a small club via an app and having friends and family spread the word of a club that now has 100+ members strong.
